Why chargebacks happen: main reasons
Situations where a customer contacts the bank aren't always related to fraud. Sometimes it's the result of merchant negligence or a simple misunderstanding. Among the most common reasons:
- the product or service was not received;
- the product didn't match its description or was defective;
- duplicate charge;
- card used without the owner's knowledge (fraud);
- the customer didn't recognize the payment or didn't agree with the amount.
